WHAT TO SEE
Forlì, “Zitadon” of the Romagna
Forlì is a city of long traditions, with fine wines such as Sangiovese and seventeenth-century buildings dominating Piazza Saffi. Forlì was called Forum Livii by the Romans and was the centre of struggles between the Ghibellines. In the thirteenth century, loyal to the Ordelaffi lords, it resisted Caterina Sforza and allowed many scientific minds to flourish.
The years of the fascist regime marked and transformed the city in a noticeable manner, especially with regard to its architecture, which is still well preserved today. Forlì is now home to numerous cultural centres, such as the Museum of San Domenico, the Church of San Giacomo, Palazzo Romagnoli and the Bologna University Campus. With its history and typical Romagna hospitality, Forlì is a city worth experiencing.

Franco Agosto Urban Park (a 10 min. walk)
The "Franco Agosto" Urban Park was created in honour of the first post-war mayor. It is a meeting place full of greenery and spaces for relaxation. A river path and the many animals that populate it, such as the rabbits, embellish the park. Inside the park, there is a bar, a restaurant, a kiosk that makes piadina and ice cream, a pub and an area for sports and games for children.

Rationalism Route, architectural style of the Ventennio
The legacies of rationalism can be found in three important places in the city such as: Viale della Libertà, which connects Piazzale della Vittoria to the railway station, Porta Ravaldino and the historic centre.
The Collegio Aereonautico is a typical example of rationalist architecture.
The twin Palazzi, on the other hand, are two structures similar in appearance but very different internally and in their functionality. They are the new gateway to the city and serve as a scenic backdrop to the Monumento ai Caduti, erected on the site where the 19th-century Barriera daziaria Vittorio Emanuele once stood.

Along the avenue, a genuine architectural museum of the Fascist period, we find a succession of buildings that once housed the main institutions of the regime.
In the historical centre we find the Palazzo delle Poste (located in Piazza Saffi), the Palazzo di Giustizia (Palace of Justice), the former Casa del Mutilato (House of the Mutilated), whose hall houses the Historical Museum.
In Porta Ravaldino, in the immediate vicinity of the historical centre, there are the Santarelli Nursery School and the former S. I. Mussolini Primary School, which today houses the Art and Music High School.

Bertinoro, “the Balcony of the Romagna”
(22 min.)
Bertinoro is called the Balcony of the Romagna and is a typical example of a medieval town, surrounded by towers, walls and ancient buildings. It is a truly suggestive place and the views are truly fantastic. The town is located right on the slopes of the Forlì Apennines.
The village is surrounded by many hectares of Sangiovese and Albana vines, as well as Refosco and Bombino bianco. The place is perfect for a romantic outing and for tasting the excellence of the territory. Bertinoro is in fact renowned for its wines and excellent gastronomy.
The name Bertinoro has its origins in two ancient stories. According to the first story, Galla Placida, daughter of Emperor Theodosius, after tasting a wine served in a simple earthenware cup, exclaimed: "You are not worthy of such a crude cup, wine, but of drinking it in gold". This is how the name of the city came about. The second story has it that the name derives from the genitive of the British monks who once stayed here, Britannic rum, which then became Bertinoro.

Forlimpopoli, “City of Artusi”
(15 min.)
Forlimpopoli is known as the birthplace of Pellegrino Artusi, the famous author of "Science in the Kitchen and the Art of Eating Well", a true pillar of Italian cuisine. The book, written at the end of the 19th century, promoted national cuisine and eating well, with a touch of irony. Forlimpopoli is home to the first gastronomic culture centre dedicated to Italian cuisine, Casa Artusi.
However, this town also boasts a past rich in history.
Forlimpopoli was built by the Romans in the 2nd century B.C. and was much frequented by pilgrims on their way to Rome during the Middle Ages. Today there are fine monuments such as the square-shaped Rocca Albornoziana, which towers over the main square.

The Rocca was built around the middle of the 14th century over the ruins of an ancient cathedral and, today, the Rocca houses the town hall. However, its basements preserve the history of the city by accommodating all the rooms of the Aldini Archaeological Museum, which contains artefacts from the Palaeolithic, Roman and medieval periods.
Also of importance is the Chiesa dei Servi built near the Piazza. It was built in the 15th century and in the early 18th century; it finally found its modern appearance. At the top of the church stands the 18th-century tower, which is very tall indeed, taller than the bell tower. Here there are fine decorations and elegant furnishings, as well as six large niches with rich altars, including an Annunciation altarpiece painted by Marco Palmezzano.

Faenza, “City of Ceramics” (20 min.)
Faenza is a city famous for its ceramics, which can be found in every nook and cranny of the city in the workshops. For this reason, Faenza has a museum dedicated entirely to ceramics, some of which are exhibited in our hotel.
In the middle of the Second World War, however, the museum was bombed and for this reason Ballarini Gaetano (creator of the museum) was able to raise awareness throughout the world of art and not only, even the institutions. In 1949, the first exhibition rooms reopened and they were enriched with precious works of art, some of which were donated by world-famous artists such as Picasso, Leger, Matisse and Chagall.
The museum is therefore a unique place on a national and international level, thanks to the Renaissance masterpieces it contains as well as works by foreign artists. The museum is the focus of numerous educational activities, experiences and school visits.

Castrocaro, “City of Wellness” (15 min.)
Castrocaro is also referred to as the "City of Wellness" because here the curative waters containing sodium chloride, bromide, iodide and sulphur are to be found and visitors can enjoy natural mud baths and curative and thermal treatments. Already during the Middle Ages Castrocaro was known for its thermal baths and, to this day, Castrocaro still retains its medieval urban appearance.
Among the monuments not to be missed are the great Fortress, the Romanesque Baptistery of San Giovanni, the Bell Tower, the eighteenth-century Palazzo Piancastelli, and the Church of Saints Nicolò and Francesco, which houses a precious work by Palmezzano.
In the Parco delle Terme you will find the Padiglione delle Feste, a typical example of art-deco. The pavilion was designed by Diego Corsani and Tino Chini and is an example of the Rationalist period, very much prevalent in the Forlì area and in Castrocaro.

Predappio, “City of the Duce” (20 min.)
Predappio is a town whose origins date back to Roman times. The town is centred around a medieval castle and its history is inexorably linked to the figure of Benito Mussolini. In fact, the Duce was born in Predappio and, during the Fascist years, the town was aesthetically improved thanks to the major architects of the time. Predappio remains an open-air museum of the urban style of the Fascist era. Some buildings represent this period in an even greater manner, such as the former Casa del Fascio e dell'Ospitalità (House of the Fascist Party and Hospitality), built between 1934 and 1937, or Palazzo Varano, which was the home of the Mussolini family and is now the town hall. Predappio is a true bastion of Romagna cuisine, thanks to its first courses made with fresh homemade pasta, passatelli (a kind of pasta), and the many typical cold cuts and cheeses such as raviggiolo and pecorino, which is matured in the caves of the former solfatara (salt mine) in Predappio Alta.
